Optional Rates
- Linn County REC does not grandfather rates.
- Members are only allowed to be on one (1) optional rate at a time.
Heat Plus Rate
Heat Plus is an optional space heating rate.
The requirements to qualify for this rate are:
- The primary space heating system must be electric.
- The electric space heating must be metered separately and approved by Linn County REC before the rate is issued. (See Heat Plus wiring diagrams below) The space heated must be a minimum of 400 square feet.
- An electric water heater must provide 100% of the water heating for the home or business (domestic water heaters cannot be wired under the Heat Plus meter).
- The account must be less than 75 kilowatt demand.
- Accounts must comply with Rate Code 17DFM, 19DFM, 38DFM.
The effective rate is 6.017 cents per kilowatt hour during the October – May heating season.

Alternative Energy Production (AEP)
Solar and wind are the most common AEP that is submitted to Linn County REC. For other types of AEP, contact our office at 319-377-1587.

- Excess generation is paid out at LCREC's current avoided energy cost.
