Teacher Resources
Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative understands the impact of educating our youth. We want to help in areas we can by providing resources and information about electricity.
Linn County REC makes safety our number one priority. One way we promote this is through our free electrical safety presentations to area schools. But we want to do more. We want to teach kids lifelong habits about energy efficiency. Electricity can also be a great way to illustrate mathematical and scientific lessons used in everyday life.
The purpose of this site is to keep teachers, with students in our service territory, informed on these topics. Please check back regularly for information on:
- contests
- grants
- conferences
- articles and related web sites for your classroom or professional development
Let us know if we can help you in the goal of educating our youth about electricity.
Energy Efficiency Booklets
Energy Efficiency is in the news a lot and has always been a focus for Linn County REC. With that in mind here are a couple sources of information we have available regarding energy efficiency.
Linn County REC has purchased some booklets (on the same order as the safety booklet given out at our presentations) called Energy Efficiency World. This booklet is for grades 3-6 and introduces kids to the concept of energy and energy efficiency including renewable energy resources. This is a subject that if learned early, could have lasting effects for our environment.
These booklets are available to teachers who have students in our service territory and who wish to incorporate energy efficiency into their classroom studies. Give us a call at 377-1587. Also check out a fun web site that deals with energy efficiency called Energy Hog. This site provides fun games and learning tools for kids and adults alike.
